Up country

Came up to Makeni, where I spent two years in the late 80s, last evening. The journey was long with many starts and stops. Am beginning to think there is something about me and public transport.

Can’t believe the changes since I was last here in 2008. Roads widened and paved, hotels, nightclubs and supermarkets. It’s even possible to have a swim and a beer at one of the hotels without being a paying guest. Not at all the Makeni of Mother Ambrose in my novel Cast a Long Shadow.

Happy writing.
